Guests can ask Siri a straight factual question about something at the park — “is the sports bar open?”, “what’s the phone number for reception?”, “when is the quiz night?” — and Siri reads back the answer from the park’s own information, without the guest having to open the app or scroll through a list.
What guests can ask about
- Opening times — “what time does the pool open”, “opening hours for the café”.
- Phone numbers — “phone number for reception”.
- Dogs — “are dogs allowed at the beach café”.
- When an event is on — “when is the quiz night”.
- Where something is — “where is the clubhouse”, “directions to the play area”.
Opening times and phone numbers can be asked without a question word (“phone number for reception”). The others need to read as a question — starting “is…”, “when’s…” or “where is…”, or ending with a question mark — so that a search like “dog friendly walks” is still treated as a search, not a question.
How to ask
What Siri says
Answers quote the park’s information word for word and never work something out from it. Opening times are read out as a heading and its times, exactly as entered in the CMS (for example “Summer: 9am – 2pm & 5pm – 9pm”), and Siri never says whether somewhere is open right now, because the CMS holds opening times as free text. Event times come from the event’s real dates, shown in the app’s language.
- The guest names one thing: Siri answers for it.
- The question fits a few things: Siri searches on what it’s about — “is the pool open” lists the Indoor and Outdoor Pool — so the guest can pick.
- The information isn’t in the CMS: Siri says so honestly, for example “There’s no phone number listed for Reception”.
- The thing isn’t at this park: Siri says it couldn’t find it, rather than listing loosely related places.
Info
Because answers come straight from the CMS, a content team gets better answers by keeping the information up to date: a place’s opening times and phone number, its dog-friendly setting, and an event’s dates. Offers, home sales and FAQs don’t answer these kinds of question, since none of this information lives on them.
Limits to know about
- English only. Recognising a question relies on English word lists, so, on an app set to another language the same words are treated as an ordinary search. Siri’s own spoken replies aren’t translated into Welsh either, because Siri has no Welsh voice.
- Held-back items aren’t used. An item a content team has kept out of Siri in the CMS doesn’t answer questions.
- Booking questions aren’t covered. “When is my stay” is handled by Bookings in Siri, not by this.
