Preferences are stored on the device
A guest’s preference data — their tags and weights — is saved locally on their iPhone or Android device. It’s not stored in their account on the server, which means it doesn’t follow them if they switch devices or reinstall the app. This is worth knowing if a guest contacts support saying their recommendations have reset.
Per-park tag configuration
The preference tags available to guests are set up per park on the server. If a park’s tags are changed — new ones added, old ones removed, labels updated — guests will see the updated set. Existing weights for tags that no longer exist will still be in their local data but won’t affect anything, since there’s nothing left to match against.
Recommendations don’t override content rules
The recommendation ranking sits on top of the app’s normal content filtering. Owner-only content, segment-restricted items, and site-specific content filtering all still apply. A guest will never have something recommended to them that they wouldn’t ordinarily be able to see.
Info
The recommendation engine runs entirely on each guest’s device. If a guest has a question about why something appeared in their recommendations, the answer lies in their own preference history — which they can view and manage themselves in settings.
